What would you do in this situation? If you’re wondering what we would do, the answer is in our Funny Money song title from a few weeks ago.

Weekend Gold Tip

Trying to sell an item quickly is not the only time to underbid a competitor. Say, for example, a rival is selling an item with a very low bid but an average buyout. In this case, put up a bunch of your own items just under their price making the bid and buyout level the same while bidding on their under-priced goods. Most customers won’t notice the competitor’s items and will just buy your slightly under-priced goods instead. You can then restock with the competitor’s goods that you (hopefully) won the low priced bids on. It is kind of like selling an item before you have it and it won’t work every time but when it does the profits can be immense. At worst, you’ve just sold a few items of your own at the going rate.
