Comings and Goings

  • We are proud to welcome back to the fold, the O.G. of the WoW gold making game, The WoW Economist. Fantastic articles, well written and (usually) concise. Good advice and in-depth examination of the market. Go give him a look. We sure hope he can also recover and post his archives.
  • The Promenade is a WoW gold blog that started out in October of this year and is already gaining ground with slick posts, good writing and fantastic screen shots. Check it out!
  • Kevmar of My AH Banker has moved over to a new site and expanded his focus. Please give him a visit and welcome him to his new home.
  • Uh, Oh… Seth of One Copper is talking burnout. Stop by and support him and tell him why he should continue.
  • The Midnight WoW Junky returned to the scene. Welcome back!

Note: Side bar links and the resources page have been updated as appropriate.

Comings and Goings

This week, we welcome five new WoWenomic blogs to our Side Bar and Resources Page:

  • Caffeine, Smokes and AH Fees– A WoW gold blog focused on Inscription and AH manipulation.
  • Rags to Riches– Another new WoW gold blog with tips for scribes and AH players.
  • Take Over Your Server– This one is a neat concept, geared towards dominating your server’s AH on low population realms.
  • WoW Economic Review– More of a feed reader/blog listing than a blog but helpful nonetheless. Go check it out of all the latest headlines from your favorite WoWenomic reads.
  • WoW Stability– This one’s been around for a while but only come to our attention recently. Fantastic advice, from all over the gold making spectrum, with short, direct posts.

Real World Business

Only two items to share this week. They’re both flash infographics, quite simple in premise, but profound in meaning.

Huh, wonder if there’s any connection between the two…

Lots of good stuff in the blogospere this week, here are just a few highlights:

That’s it for this week. Fans of our Funny Money column will have to remain disappointed this week as the NY Giants got their a$$es kicked and this leaves me in not so funny of a mood. Have a great week everyone (unless you’re from New Orleans)!

Starting off, all students of WoWenomics are encouraged to go check out a fantastic post by Tobold sounding like a behavioral economist. We can’t say we agree with all points but it is a great article, well written and thoroughly thought out. This one applies to all WoW traders big and small.

Kaliope has moved. She’s over on blogspot now with a new look and a new feed. Be sure to update your RSS readers. We’ve already updated our side bar and Resources page to reflect the change.

Attention Engineers: WoW Alone discusses an extraordinary strategy for attaining the elusive Jeeves schematic with minimal effort. The tip is well documented, researched and written up informatively and efficiently as are all posts on this splendid blog.

Ever wonder who it is that AFKs in your favorite battle ground? Well this is who. Of course, the previous post from the same author kind of explains the mentality.

The Greedy Goblin divorced his rent-a-guild. Apparently it was a mutual parting of the ways.

Too Greedy discusses opportunities and identifying and taking advantage of them.

Here’s a great tip on completing the Higher Learning achievement from the Misc. blog.

The Holy Paladin discusses one of the lesser-known benefits of gemming a Nightmare Tear.

Wondering where your Murloc Marine is? Blizzard says, stop worrying and have some patience. It will come in a few more weeks.

First Up, Business News

On the WoW side of things there was lots of talk of Inscription last week

WoWenomic news highlights not specific to scribes were also pretty good…

Interestingly, there’s also a Monopoly movie in the works. We know, we know… sounds dumb right? But get this, one of our team members is kinda sorta close with an East Coast film producer who shared this interesting theory with him: Seems that video game movies were kinda successful (but, according to the movie execs, we were too dumb to get it) so they went with toy movies. Toys were the next logical step in the descent of our intellectual play and by stepping down the ladder of intellect and complexity the movies were somewhat more successful (Transformers 3 anyone?). The next step in this process is to churn out movies based on board games so here we go with Monopoly. Make sense now? No? Still sounds dumb? Yeah, we think so too but we can’t wait for Checkers, The Movie. We still stand by our own theory, video game movies are just fine thank you very much. Perhaps the problem is not the audience but the crappy movies the studios churned out.
